Fornataro and Radja Sign with Syracuse

Captain Matt Fornataro and sniper Mike Radja have signed with the Syracuse Crunch.

Fornataro finished his career as Captain of the 2007-2008 squad having played 156 games in the Blue and White. During that time he scored 44 goals and earned 74 assists with 18 goals and 28 assists in his final season.

Radja was one of four deserving senior Assistant Captains. He amassed 139 games in a Wildcat uniform tallying 54 goals and 63 assists. Each of his last two seasons saw him score 19 goals as well as 18 and 24 assists respectively.

Both senior forwards agreed to Amateur Try-Out agreements with the AHL club.

It remains to be seen whether the Wildcat duo will suit up tonight at 7:30 EST when the Crunch take on the Rochester Americans - the game will be televised on Time Warner SportsNet (Rochester). It does look likely though as the Crunch have just 10 forwards on their website's updated team roster - which reveals that the two will join BC's, Brett Motherwell, who's played primarily for the Crunch since his early departure from BC this season. Also worth noting is that the Crunch recently clinched a Calder Cup playoff berth. The Crunch are the AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Congrats guys! Play hard!

Check back often Nation as I'm sure more signings, news and info will be coming along and I'll be getting to some long overdue updates on our 'Cats in the Pros and more on the Future 'Cats.

It's all 'Cats, all the time!

Go 'Cats!

Nice to see some of the better college hockey players to stay all four seasons. I believe that Former Sioux Karl G also plays on the Crunch...

He sure does.

Herr Goehring was recently awarded AHL Goaltender of the Month!

I think it is great to see guys stay the four years but I'm kind of torn of where I stand on the issue.

Ironically enough I played an April Fools Day joke that really had legs last year joking that Radja had signed with Grand Rapids and he actually appeared on the, I believe, fan run Griffins' site :)

As for players leaving early, I think we definitely can't force them to stay or punish them for departing early as I've suggested in the past. I guess it will have to suffice that we appreciate any player's presence for as long as they are here and hope that they are upfront about their intentions as quickly as someone's personal position may change.

And whether or not there are hard feelings about a player leaving early - everyone has to deal with that in their own way. If a player doesn't handle the situation above board then I think it's obvious there will be hard feelings. And if there is a sense of loss when they are gone then I think it is good to remind the fans that these players are human and their opinions matter.

As to the Sioux, best of luck the rest of the way!
