USA U18 Team Captures Silver

The US U18 Team lost to Russia 6-5, though it was not as close as it looks.

Our boys got out to a great start taking a two goal lead in the first only to relinquish it, then gain it back to close out the first period 3-2. The second period would be the Russians' turn to jump out, tying the game, then taking the lead 4-3 before the US would again deadlock the game to close out the second at 4-4. The third period would belong to the Russians though as they scored two through the frame to take a 6-4 lead over the Americans. With time running out the Red, White and Blue would pull goaltender Josh Unice and would fight to within one with just six ticks on the clock - simply not enough time.

James vanRiemsdyk would score the tying goal in the second and had assisted on the 3-2 go-ahead goal at the end of the first as well as the final goal with the goaltender pulled.

Congratulations to our US U18 Team, and their fantastic season! Also, congratulations to the Russian U18 Team on dethroning the three-straight champions US Team.

Go 'Cats!
